Take Out |
This small, tight creek only really runs when there is snow on the ground. The longest rapid is visible from the bridge at the take out. There are not many eddies, so make sure you have a look and check for wood before you go. Parking is limited at both ends, so share rides and keep your groups small. The shuttle is short enough to walk or run, and the river is worth a few laps on.
The river starts with a flat section to warm up on. A small double drop heralds the start of the rapids. Shortly after comes a larger drop right under the Frantz road bridge. This is usually run on the left. A little way down there is the second of the big drops, usually run hard right over the rooster tail. The river continues with some good fun rapids to a steeper section on a right hand bend. This is the start of the rapid visible from the take out, so try to remember the line you scouted earlier!
To get to the take out; This is a bridge on County road 62 between Bancroft and Barrys Bay, about 7km easy of Maynooth. The river is not signposted, but the final rapid is visible from the road.
To get to the put in; Head West, towards Maynooth for about 2 km and take a right onto Soble road. Continue until you cross the river.
